Hi, hope your having a good week so far!
Here are some easy ways to get off the extra weight from the holidays and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
One of my first and biggest tips is DRINK WATER. I know, everyone tells you “drink water, stay hydrated, etc. ” but its true! Prioritizing water will help regulate your weight and flush out all the cookies you had over the holidays.
Before you go to bed put a glass of water on your bedside table. Then, when you wake up In the morning you can reach over and drink the whole cup! I tend to try to drink most of my water in the morning so I have more freedom for other drinks throughout the day.
If you are in school whither it’s high school, college, or you are just on the go. Invest in a water bottle that you love. It seems silly to some, but getting a water bottle that you think is cute , or goes with your style will make you want to bring it everywhere you go. I just got the cutest matte black one! It’s very chic and simple and I keep it with me at all times. Also I’ve noticed if you get one with a straw you tend to drink more.
My goal has been to drink a gallon of water everyday. I’ve noticed so many improvements since doing so. For example, I don’t bloat as much, I get full quicker, and have more energy during the day.
After you are hydrated, it’s important to stay active. This doesn’t have to be extreme. Take your dogs for a long walk, a stroll on the beach, or step on the treadmill for 30 min. I promise it will make a difference. I would say try to reach 10,000 steps a day which you can track on your phone, Fitbit, or Apple Watch.
Lastly, I want you to eat. Now, this doesn’t mean eat everything you see in your fridge. It is important to eat to keep your metabolism going. Trust me I’ve done it all from fasting, to not eating enough, to eating too much and I finally got in touch with a nutritionist to help me do it the right way. That’s why I want to help you, so you don’t have to make the mistakes I did.
First, Wake up , eat breakfast. Try and add some source of protein. Some ideas that I love are egg whites made into an omelet , overnight protein oats, protein waffles, or low sugar greek yogurt. Now it is time for lunch, have some grilled chicken, ground turkey, or a big salad “just be careful of the hidden calories,” and for dinner have another lean source of protein with veggies!
Also, one thing I’ve learned is to not cut out the foods you love but just make them healthier. I’m not a huge carb person but I do crave sweets. When I plan out my meals I always save some room for a low cal dessert. If you want some suggestions let me know and I will make a post about it soon!
Overall, BE HEALTHY FOR YOU. So you will look good and feel good.
As always, be the best version of you.
